Happy Halloween

Is it just me or are vampires and horror rapidly gaining 'new black', status? It seems that everywhere you turn there is a new book, movie or tv show on the (increasingly sexier) sun-shy ghouls. Never one to shy away from a trend, we've jumped on the blood-sucking bandwagon, and quite frankly we can't get enough. Forget grinning pumpkins, black cats and witches hats, Planet Cake is making Halloween funky! Adam showed Sydney how we do things with his appearance (hello...front cover!) in the Inner West Courier.

Seeing as it is the week for giving sweet treats to youngsters, we were thrilled to host eight students from the Wyong Christian Community School, currently studying year 12 food technology. The guys came in for an insider look at the industry and were treated to a one-off design lesson from Antony.

Our classroom is literally bursting with excitement today, with twenty students taking part in our third Beginner Bites, hosted by Paris herself. This workshop is one of the best introductions to Planet Cake decorating, and gives you the chance to sample all that we have to offer. Missed out? Never fear, Paris will be appearing as part of Kinokuniya's Bake Fair tomrrow from 12pm. Drop by to have your copy of Planet Cake Cupcakes signed by Paris and to try your hand at cupcake decorating (and of course, eating!)

In complete contrast to our kooky Halloween cakes this week were these four gorgeously-girlie ones. While the pony-themed Madhatter is just stunning, I must admit being the Lewis Carroll fan that I am, it was the Alice in Wonderland Tea Party cake that I fell completely in love with this week.

Not being completely familiar with the Halloween etiquette (can one say 'happy' Halloween?) I am just going to wish everyone a fabulously, funky Halloween, one that is hopefully full of delicious things and a good-looking vampire or two!
