Planet Cake Weekly Update 27.05.10

Yep it sure is great to have Margie back in the studio. After a long time working on our up-and-coming book Margie is back better than ever and weaving her old magic.

It's a little different to our usual style but we really enjoyed the chance to work a slightly more organic-style cake. This six tier extravaganza was created for a celebrity who was so VIP the identity wasn't revealed even to us! With two tiers made from styro and the rest from cake this thing weighed a tonne, stood well over a meter high and just about gave our delivery driver Carlos heart failure.

Weekly Update - 20th May 2010

Every now and again we get a request for a cake that really rakes out breath away. The standout this week was definately this severed- head! This unbelievable cake was created by the one and only Margie for a recent art gallery opening. A little stomach-churning, yes, but let's face it this is one seriously cool cake.

Well we may not be seeing much of them out-of-doors these days but it was positively blooming with exotic flowers in the PC studio over the weekend. Anna-Maria and ten students spent the weekend cosying up with thier beautiful frangipanni's, orchids and hibiscus flowers.

Those of you who were watching the Channel 7 news on Monday may have caught a sneak peek of the Planet Cake team on the 6.30pm weather report. Betty, Anna-Maria, Adam, Margie, Jess and Margie were creating specialty cupcakes in support of Australia's Biggest Morning Tea,

Another delightfully newsy week here at Planet Cake as we welcome Margie back into the studio and our new student liason officer Jun. All our returning students out there will be getting to know Jun over the coming months as he will be working closely with the school, so feel free to give him a call and discuss anything school (or cake!) related.

Breaking News:
From now until September 30 Planet Cake will be offering a special Winter Off-Peak rate of 20% off all our online and couture cakes, so there is no better time to spoil someone special (and remember there’s no-one more special than you!).

Weekly Update 06.05.10

With all the excitement surrounding our new courses and of course our celebrity appearance on MasterChef, sometimes we forget that we also have loads of amazing cakes coming out of the studio on a weekly basis, so I would like to begin with some of the best from the previous week:

Being resdient blogger here at PC, I'm a huge fan of other blogs, and particularly those concerning all things sweet (!) and recently we were featured in two fantastic Australian blogs, first up Fig and Cherry features our Easter Cupcakes Course

Also, a couple of weeks back we were fortunate enough to have the lovely Lorraine “Not Quite Nigella” Eliott attend our Wonderland Cupcakes. For those of you who are not aware, the Not Quite Nigella blog is a fabulous look into the foody world of Sydney and this week Planet Cake makes a guest appearance. Check out Lorraine’s fabulous blog at :

And of course, it just wouldn't be a Planet Cake blog without some pictures of our crew being thier usual silly selves...

Planet Cake for MasterChef

We were absolutely thrilled when earlier this year MasterChef invited us to help out the contestants in another cake challenge. With the expert help of Anna-Maria and Handi, both red team and blue team created an amazing childrens birthday extravaganza. Well done everyone, and best of all, both cakes not only looked but tasted amazing...everyone's a winner!
