Morning Tea with Paris
This morning we were thrilled to host our first ever monthly morning tea with Paris. Paris and the girls discussed cake, the universe and everything over a relaxing cuppa and some fab cakes. Sound like a better way to relax than a pedicure? Just email us at info@planetcake.com.au to get involved.
Last night we had an absolute ball when the crew from Breville came in for a night of madness as part of a promotion for their new range of mixers.
The guys were divided into teams to take part in a Masterchef-style cupcake challenge where they had to decorate 50 cupcakes in two hours (now that's no easy task to those new to decorating). Check out the fab designs the guys cam up with, brilliant. Judging by the lovely email we received this morning, it looks like they all had as much fun as we did!
"Thanks so much for your help setting up the Breville event last night -everyone had a very memorable night and it was such an unexpected pleasure to meet Paris and Margie...they were all such great fun"
Now you know we love to push the boundaries of cake decorating, check out Ritzy employing our 'Bigger is Better' motto with this enormous cake for Red Bull.
I love the simplicity of this cake based on an Irish design. The client is a sculptor and worked with Ant with it's conception.

Brand new 105 in Melbourne!
Oh. My. God. I am absolutely loving the new Basics 105 design, taken for its maiden voyage in Melbourne last week with the one and only Jessica Pedemont. Most of the guys chose some gorgeous spring colours and from these pics it looks as thought the trusty Kew Masonic Center was magically transformed into a field of blossoming mini 2-tiers. Fab work guys, these really are beautiful.
There are still spaces available in the Sydney Basics 105 beginning December 1st, but after seeing these pictures I'd get in fast!
19.11.10 Update
Without sounding as though we're bragging, we see our fair share of celebrity cakes in here, but I have to say this is one I got pretty damn excited over! Qantas ambassador John Travolta helped the Aussie Icon celebrate 90 years in business last week.
I'm sure this week's personal favourite will come as no surprise to you. This unbelievable chameleon quite literally made our client scream with delight, Emma's eardrum's can testify to that!
Now this 'Fabulous at 40' cake was one we made a couple of weeks but due to some technical 'issues' I couldn't get the pictures up until now. I am very excited to share it with you today though. Antony had a fab time designing this one, and it's always so nice to receive photo's of happy clients after the event.
If the window's at Myer and DJ's are anything to go by, it sure is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Anna Maria kick started the festive season here with this amazing cake for our brand new Specialty Chrismas course (check out the course page for more details). Meanwhile Betty channelled her inner girly girl with this fabulous lippie cake for the show room. I just reckon this could make one great 21st cake.

These two are definately my favourites of the week. The dragon inspired red and gold cake was designed by Ant and painstakingly executed by Margie for a couple of currators of Asian art - just fabulous. I don't know whether it's the bright colours or the fab texture but I just love the pinata 4th birthday cake.
What a week... PC spent the week jetting across the country on a whirlwind book launch tour (all very fabulous and rock n' roll). Paris and her crew of Margie, Adama and newest recruit Adina flew to Brisbane and back on Monday and then did it all over again on Wednesday in Melbourne. Almost 200 Planet Cake fans were treated to a signed copy of the book and tried their hand at cupcake decorating with the guys. Tired would be an understatement, but what a wonderful week, well worth all the hard work. A big thank you to everyone who attended, we had a ball!
In Melbourne we met up with Jess who has been teaching Basics 104, 105 and 106 over the past couple of weeks.
The "Story of Planet Cake"
Ever wondered how Planet Cake came to be? One of our very talented young clients (she has personally and quite faultlessly designed both her 6th and 7th birthday cakes) was so taken with the magic of Planet Cake on her last visit, that she returned this year with her very own version of the 'Story of Planet Cake' featuring the amazing Antony Bullimore. Thank you so much Hayden!

PC Cupcakes Release at last!
Yes, November has finally arrived, and with it the release (at last!) of our brand new book, Planet Cake Cupcakes...Woooo Hooo! Today is our very first book launch here in Sydney and we've thrown open our doors to over 75 of our loyal fans throughout the day. Those who attended not only nabbed themselves a signed copy of the book but were also able to turn their hand to cupcake decorating, sampling three of the designs from the book, with a little help from Anna Maria, Margie, Adam, Stuart, Leslie and Emma.
Paris, swamped by hot-off-the-press copies of the new book
Antony and our goody bags for the book launch
Margie and Ritzi get into the spirit of Movember
Next up is a rock star tour, as Paris and the gang take the book launch to Brisbane on the 8th, followed by Melbourne on the 10th. There are still limited places available in both states, so if you're interested in attending just jump online to register:
After starting our week on a cupcake fever high, we launched ourselves full-force into a crazy-busy week with well over 20 cakes in production. While there have been some hectic moments, all in all it has been a really great week, and a pleasure to spent it surrounded by our truly talented and insirational crew.
